Gerry Creen

Gerry Creen is acknowledged as one of Belfast’s finest singer/songwriters. In the past year he has shared stages and bills with Nanci Griffith, Brian Kennedy, Juliet Turner and Mick Hanley. Gerry’s songs address real life issues, they contain poignant lyrics and dynamic melodies which stand the test of time and are delivered with sensitivity and passion. In recent times his signature song ‘A Rose By Any Other Name’ has featured at high profile peace events, including at Stormont and was performed in the presence of former Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern when he visited the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival in May 2010. His latest CD ‘Hindsight’ includes the powerful song ‘Black Box’ – its thought provoking lyrics challenging us to confront, rather then ignore life’s big questions. Recently, on the BBC Radio Ulster Folk Club, presenter Siobhan Skates commented: “A song that sticks in your head long after the last note or fading drum beat has gone.”
