Skerryvore

Skerryvore

Pipes, fiddle and accordions, electrically fused with funky rhythms and soul-gripping songs, complimented by the soaring vocals of lead singer Alec Dalglish, Skerryvore are an award winning Scottish band creating a ‘Folk n' Roll' fusion for the 21st Century!

Skerryvore formed in 2004 on the Isle of Tiree in Scotland's Inner Hebrides and from traditional roots the band have developed both in size and sound to create a unique fusion of their traditional music and songs, where Folk music meets the rawness of the urban sounds of rock.

With their outstanding musicianship and the mesmerising voice of singer Alec Dalglish, Skerryvore have gripped audiences across the world from Chicago to Beijing and have been the highlight of many top International festivals, home and abroad, including Celtica in Italy; Celtic Connections in Scotland; Celtic Crackers in the Netherlands and even a blistering performance at Scotland's Premier rock festival ‘T in the Park'. This summer will see the band perform at festivals such as Loopallu; Belladrum; Wickham; Gosport & Fareham; Shepley; T in the Park; Milwaukee Irish Fest, USA and Lorient Festival, France with more on the horizon.

Skerryvore have been confirmed by the Scottish Government for a tour of Canada and are also performing at Scotland Week and the Tartan Day Parade in New York City, which will see the band performing to thousands and spreading the sounds of Scotland to the world. A Television commercial for Visit Scotland including a concert performance by Skerryvore has been recorded and will be screened worldwide from April 2011.

The band's highly anticipated third album, ‘Skerryvore' was released at a sell-out album launch concert at the o2 ABC music venue in Glasgow on 1st July 2010, with the band receiving sensational live reviews from respected media which resulted in Skerryvore being nominated for Live Act of The Year by the Scots Trad Music Awards.

With a double colour spread in the Evening Times, album reviews in the Daily Record, coverage in The Herald, journalist's jostling to interview the band at the recent ABC album launch concert and the album being played on Radio 2 and stations across the UK, it has been a great start to the album tour for Scotland's hottest band.

Skerryvore continue to generate a big following of fans of all ages worldwide. This has seen them achieve album sales of over 10,000 whilst also being awarded album of the month on the BBC Radio Scotland's ‘Celtic Connections' International Broadcast and with the album now on sale through HMV the band have made the break-through on a National level that they have threatened to do so for some time – now it's a reality!

The following are some of the outstanding reviews that they have received:
