Tim Edey 2017

Tim Edey is a true virtuoso on over ten instruments and an international touring professional musician since the age of fifteen. He plays mainly guitar and also melodeon, piano, whistle and more, with a stunning style all of his own. Tim has shared the stage with many guitar greats including Ry Cooder, Tony McManus, Kris Drever, Dougie MacLean, Alan Prosser, Steve Cooney, JP Cormier, Richard Durrant and Martin Simpson. He is also the guitarist of choice for 'The Chieftains' touring line-up for the last five years. Tim is still only 36 years old but after twenty years of hard work is now a name on the world stage in his own right. He is deservedly rated by many to be one of the world’s finest ever melodeon and guitar players in the folk and world music scene. He focuses his talents on his exciting & entertaining solo show, which has proved very popular at many UK (Beverley, Orkney, Broadstairs, Celtic Connections), Australian (Woodford), Canadian (Celtic Colours, Summerfolk) and European (Costa Del Folk, Kaustinen) festivals to name a few.

He performs an exciting blend of 'Edey' music & songs, Celtic folk-world-jazz-flamenco influences, all brewed up with original songs and tunes, like his recent popular charity single, 'Elevator blues' as played on BBC Radio Two, about a true phobia he still faces today! His CV reads as a genuine who's who of folk and roots music, having toured and/or recorded with names like Christy Moore, Natalie MacMaster & Donnell Leahy, Mary Black, Lúnasa, Altan, Michael McGoldrick, Sharon Shannon, Wolfstone, J.P. Cormier, Séamus Begley, Brendan Power, Paul Brady, Frankie Gavin, The Barra MacNeils, Julie Fowlis, Dougie MacLean, Session A9, Ross Ainslie and more.

The live shows feature a strong guitar and vocal aspect interspersed with melodeon, whistle and piano. With his personality and stage presence, any music lover will warm to Tim and love his music. He is a Double BBC Folk Awards winner including 'Musician of the year 2012' and we are very excited to welcome Tim for his debut performance at the festival.
