Caitlín Nic Gabhann - CD Launch
Caitlín is a regular performer at Gig'n the Bann, having played in many sessions and also as part of the traditional band Cruinniú. We are delighted that Caitlin has agreed to launch her debut solo album at the festival!
A three times winner of the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil on concertina, Caitlín is a regular performer at festivals and in concert halls from North America all the way to Asia. She is also an accomplished dancer and in 2009, joined Riverdance as troupe dancer. An award winner in the University College Cork music department where she graduated with first class honours, she has returned to UCC this year, studying for a Masters in music. Caitlín teaches concertina annually at summer and winter schools in Ireland, Europe and the USA and has performed with the RTE Vanbrugh Quartet, Paddy Keenan, Liam Ó Maonlaí & Trasna as well as for Presidents and Royalty around the world.
Joining Caitlín for the launch is Caoimhín Ó Fearghaila multi-instrumentalist from An Rinn in the west Waterford Gaeltacht.Currently the ‘TG4 Young Musician of the Year' Caoimhín plays the uilleann pipes, tin whistle and flute in addition to the guitar which he plays on the album with Caitlín. Caoimhín is also well travelled having played in Newfoundland, Boston and also with the band Danu on a UK tour. With numerous titles at the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil to his name he also teaches music in his local area and at various workshops and is currently studying for an MA in Irish at UCC.
