Coimriú
Coimriú (which translates as syncopated) are a seven piece Traditional group who formed in 2007 to take part in Gael Linn’s Siansa ‘08 competition for St.Mary’s grammar school, Magherafelt. They performed in the final of Siansa in The National Concert Hall in Dublin and received a rapturous reception from the audience and a great write up in the Irish Music Magazine afterwards.
The current members of the group are Dermot Mulholland (Banjo, Double Bass, Lead Vocals), Declan McErlane (Fiddle, Vocals), Eoin Gribbin (Guitar, Vocals), Fintan Mulholland (Cajon, Bodhran, Low Whistle, Vocals), Hannah McCauley (Fiddle, Piano, Vocals), Hannah Murray (Tin Whistle, Vocals), and Nuala Hughes (Tin Whistle, Flute, Vocals).
The group recently travelled to Birmingham to perform in the National Music for Youth competition, the largest competition for young musicians in the world, and were awarded one of two outstanding performance awards and as a result will go forward to play in a concert in the Royal Albert Hall in London in November.
