Mike Denver
Mike
Denver has become one of the most popular names in Irish Country Music. The Portumna man has a very busy touring
schedule while also finding time to regularly record albums and DVDs.
Mike’s first
professional gig was in Edgeworthstown in January 2003 along with his full
band. His first album, "Wings To Fly”
was recorded in early 2003 and included tracks such as, "You’re The Best
Friend”; Johnny Cash’s, "Cry Cry Cry” and "It’s A Dream Come True”. This album
was recorded in Tony Maher’s studio in Headford and also featured base
guitarist Frankie Colohan. Mike has
since recorded eleven more albums namely, "Love To Live”; "Messenger Boy”;
"Christmas Country”; "Absent Friends”; "The Essential Galway Boy Collection”;
"Seasons in the Sun”; "Got A Funny Feelin’ ”; "Thank God for the Radio”; "tradition”;
"Vintage Country” and more recently a double CD entitled "The Live Show”. Mike has also released four DVD’s, "The Galway
Boy”; "Country Christmas Collection”; "Live in Concert”, which was recorded in
the TF Royal Theatre, Casthebar and his current DVD, "Let’s Dance – The Live
Show” which was recorded in the Glencarn Hotel, Castleblayney. In addition Mike has appeared on numerous
television shows such as "The Late Late Show”; "Stars Go Racing”; "The Miriam
O’Callaghan Show”; "Up for the Match”; "Morning Ireland”; "Seoige and O’Shea”;
"Den TV with Brian Ormond”; "Glor Tire TG4”; "Podge and Rodge”, "Hot Country
Rural TV” and "Hector Goes Country”. Mike’s
Mother and Father have always had a great influence on his career and supported
him from the early days. His main
influence is Garth Brooks and Merle Haggart is another singer that he considers
a legend. One of the highlights of his
career was the opportunity to record with the late George Jones who would have
recorded with some of the greatest artists in the world.
