Whistlin’ Donkeys
Having been on the road steadily for five years 'The Whistlin' Donkeys' have built a strong following in the north of Ireland. Through performing regularly in clubs, music venues and large outdoor festivals the band has been shaping and developing their sound over time. Consisting of Banjo, Fiddle, Guitar, Bass, Drums and vocals, 'The Whistlin' Donkeys' sound is rooted in their strong traditional Irish basis.
This is strengthened and fused with the driving rock influences brought to the table by the drums, guitar and bass. Boasting All-Ireland winning musicians the band has a distinctly unique and rustic sound thanks to their singer and frontman Fergal McAloon.
With powerful stage presence and authentic Irish influences that range from artists such as 'The Pogues', 'The Dubliners' and 'Flogging Molly' they have been lucky enough to work alongside legendary celtic rock guitarist Johnny Fean of 'The Horslips'. The band has also supported 'Smokie' on an Irish Tour and 'The Beach Boys' when they last came to Ireland.
Additionally they have played extensively in the US, visiting festivals such as The Boston Irish Festival and 'The East Durham Irish Festival' in New York. The band has also played a series of shows in Manhattan attracting a growing fan base and an increasing following in New York City.
Currently they are in the recording studio working on their third album in preparation for a summer release. The album will include several celtic rock favourites, irish ballads, traditional jigs and reels and a few interesting arrangements making it an exciting release for 'The Whistlin' Donkeys'. We are delighted to welcome them for their debut performance at the festival!
